after school shirt, part two

I am not big on floral prints. Unless the scale is super huge, like my Loulouthi chair that has an 18-inch repeat, I’m just not a fan. Even the king of florals, Liberty, is not my cup of tea. Heresy, I know. But for some reason, browsing through fabric swatches online, this Lecien print jumped out at me and I had to have it.

I am not ashamed to say that I love this shirt more than anything I’ve made in quite a while. It’s amazing what can happen when you step outside your comfort zone, eh?

The print is just so bright and cheerful, without being twee.

I rehearsed a few different colored buttons, but settled on these brown ones and I think they are perfect.

Stella wore this to a play date last weekend, but not without some cajoling on my part. I promised we could put the polka dot leggings back on as soon as we returned home. She has become wildly attached to certain pieces of clothing and wants to wear them all. the. time.

  1. i love both the shirts you made from this pattern – great fabrics. lila is the same way, attached to a couple pieces of random clothing (which of course i didn't make) – oh well 🙂
